A 2-Step Technique for Dealing Positively with Disappointment

In just about every performance-driven profession, the road to success is paved with disappointments. Real estate is no exception! So, knowing how to deal positively with any disappointments is a necessary skill.

There are many ways to manage setbacks. Here’s a simple technique worth trying.

It involves asking two questions:

1. “What can I learn from this?”

2. “How will I apply what I learned?”

For example, if you lost a prospect due to a lack of consistent follow-up, your answer to the first question might be: “Follow up is more important than I thought!” The response to number two might be: “I need to rethink my keep-in-touch systems and make them more frequent and effective.”

This technique often works well because it re-positions disappointment as a learning experience that drives you to be more successful in the future.
