Envelope or Self-Mailer? Which Works Better?

There are two basic ways to mail something to a prospect or client. For example, if you
want to send a newsletter, you can put it in an envelope or format it so it can be sent as
a self-mailer (i.e., without an envelope).

Which option works best?
According to studies, envelopes are more effective. Why?

An envelope creates more
interactivity. Your prospect or client needs to handle it more. They anticipate what’s
inside. They open it. They pull out the newsletter and hold it. More often than not, they
start reading.

Self-mailers can work well too. But, if you’re sending a newsletter, mailing it in an
envelope will make more of an impact and increase the likelihood your prospect or
client will notice, open and read it.
